After a very long journey, I finally made it to Africa. What a long awaited trip this has been. We had multiple problems coming here. Four of our teammates were left behind in Atlanta because their visas did not come in time, but they should be here within the next 2 days I believe. One of our leaders lost her passport on (or around?) the plane to JoBurg. So, she flew 15 hours, to be rejected by SA border patrol. She is currently on her way back to Canada. What a horrible situation. I was getting so emotional in the airport because I have come to love everyone, and I was so sad to see people not come with us. We are not sure if the girl from Canada will join us or not; depending if she can raise money for a plane ticket to get here. We also lost about 30 bags on the way over. I lost my first bag ever. It should arrive tomorrow.

Jeffreys Bay (JBay) is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Seriously. It’s a small beach town, and very much resembles San Diego. We got to walk around for a few hours today and explore the town. It was a blast. We literally walk 2 or 3 blocks to the ocean. It is SO close. I can smell and hear the ocean from where we’re staying. I’m pretty sure that I am going to be beaming from ear to ear for the next month. I love it here.

We also moved into our houses. They are basically like little cabins I guess. We are in one large compound with 8 little houses inside. My “house” has 10 girls and a bathroom and shower. There are other South Africans living in this compound that are doing other things. We are going a camping trip this weekend. I’m not really sure what we are doing, but I know we are going into the bush.

My current location is the big room where we will have meetings and such. Everyone is sitting around playing guitars and worshiping before we have to go to bed tonight. This has definitely become a favorite past-time of ours. I’m just looking around at our whole team and it’s amazing how much we have bonded already. I’ve made good friends and bonded more with some than others, but I feel close to everyone.

We will probably choose our ministries within the next week. My option are working in the local clinic, working with an after school program, working in the Joshua Project which is for street kids, working in a school, and a few others.  I’m not sure where I’ll end up.

The picture above is from training camp in GA. We learned 2 dramas
to present to people as our ministry. This is me and Meghan. 🙂

Oh! I had a crazy blast from the past! When we got to the airport, this African guy was with my leaders to pick us up and he looked so familiar. It turns out he was one of my leaders on my last AIM trip to Swaziland. He remembered me too. I guess we will working with him and some other guys from my Swazi trip too. Crazy; I never thought I would see them again.

Ok one last thing I need to add. I wrote everything above last night, but a quick update about today. We went on a scavenger hunt throughout JBay to get acquainted with everything and my camera got stolen. I’m pretty bummed about it especially since I just got it three weeks ago. I’ve given it completely to the Lord, but it still sucks.

Well I guess that’s all for now. God is good. All the time.
